Queensland Police Credit Union Ltd. recognise the importance of members' personal information, and are committed to protecting personal information about members that we hold. This Privacy Policy describes how we manage members' personal information and safeguard members' privacy. National Privacy Principles From 21 December 2001, most private sector organisations in Australia must by law comply with the National Privacy Principles ("NPPs"). The NPP's strengthen protection of members' privacy. We will comply with The Privacy Act (1988). We do not generally collect information that is ‘sensitive personal information' as defined by the Privacy Act 1988. However, we may on occasion collect information relating to your health. In providing products and services to you it may be necessary for us to provide your personal information to other organisations with whom we conduct business. We do not disclose sensitive personal information to third parties without your permission or instruction. Other organisations include related entities, solicitors and legal advisors, accountants and auditors, printers and mailing services, insurers, collection agents, conveyancers, CreditLink (our national credit union body), and government agencies which regulate our products and services. Your personal information is only provided to those entities to the extent necessary to enable us to provide our products and services to you and to the extent required by law. Information about you from third parties We may need to source information about you from a third party; for example, a credit reporting agency, an insurer, another financial institution or foreign currency suppliers. Receiving marketing information If you consent to us doing so, we may provide you with information from time to time about new products and services available to you from Queensland Police Credit Union, or other businesses with whom we have a relationship. Information we are required to send to you Under our Constitution, which members have adopted and only they can agree to amend, we are required to provide you with certain information. This information includes notices of meetings, elections and any proposed changes to the Constitution. We are also legally bound to provide monthly statements to members with Visa cards. We include The Beat newsletter with members' statements, because they contain important information relating to members' accounts and current services which members would not otherwise receive. What if you do not wish to provide us with information In order to provide products and services to you we require information about you. If you do not provide us with all of the information we require, we may be unable provide products or services to you. If you do not provide us with your Tax File Number there may also be taxation implications for you. Your rights to access information Under the Privacy Act, in most cases you have the right to access personal information we hold about you. If the information is incorrect, you have the right to require us to amend the information. We rely on the accuracy of the information you provide to us. If you believe or know that information we hold about you is incorrect, out of date or incomplete, please contact us on 131 468 and we will make all reasonable efforts to correct the information.
