Following this, and eager for a new challenge, Grant accepted a role as National Marketing Manager – Product Management for Citibank Limited in Sydney. Here his key responsibility was the acquisition, profitability and portfolio growth of a 70,000 customer base with value in excess of AUD$5.7 billion. Keen to make the move back to the Sunshine State, Grant joined Queensland Teachers Credit Union in a 2001, where he later was promoted to Assistant General Manager - Sales and Distribution. In this senior managerial role, Grant was responsible for QTCU’s strategic plan, achieving key growth targets, and for the organisation’s change management process. Having worked up through the ranks, Grant has an excellent appreciation of the day-to-day operations of a financial institution. His comprehensive career in the financial sector, which has spanned over 26 years, has given him in-depth industry knowledge. Coupled with this, his qualifications include an MBA (to be finalised 2008), Graduate Certificate of Business, Bachelor of Business, Diploma in Financial Services, and Certificate III in Financial Services. Grant is a member of the Australian Mutuals Institute (AMI) and an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management. Grant has proven he can ‘walk the talk’ and your Board is confident that under his leadership QPCU will cement its position as Queensland’s, if not one of Austrlia’s leading closed-bond Credit Unions. “I am committed to ensuring Queensland Police Credit Union continues to serve members while maintaining high standards of financial compliance and fiscal responsibility”, said Grant. Grant believes as a Credit Union our focus should be on member needs, saying “it is the people, both members and staff, who are the life blood of the Credit Union”. Grant plans to actively involve himself with the Queensland Police & Emergency Services Communities and he went on to say, “understanding our members is a key step in understanding how to best serve their needs and that is a critical part of ensuring the future viability of our Credit Union”.
