Our community
For many years QPCU has been actively involved in helping and supporting our community. This important aspect of our work helps us to give back to the people who risk their safety and sometimes their lives on a daily basis to make our community a better place to live.

Here are just a few of the different community activities we're involved in:
Queensland Police Legacy
Each year we provide a sponsorship package to assist in the preservation and the fundraising activities of the Queensland Police Legacy Scheme. This is an independent, charitable organisation that aims to assist families of deceased, terminally ill and widowed police officers. Queensland Police Legacy Scheme provides everything from funding for education expenses to birthday and Christmas gifts.
Queensland Retired Police Association (QRPA)
QRPA is made up of retired police from a range of ranks and backgrounds. The group places great importance on fellowship and improving the economic and social wellbeing of its members.
In Brisbane they have an annual luncheon with up to 200 in attendance (includes guests from visiting branches) where they enjoy the festivities and partake of the raffles of prizes for which their members and sponsors supply.
The thirteen branches of the association meet regularly throughout the state and each hold a luncheon or dinner annually.
QPCU are proud sponsors of QRPA in providing monetary funds and raffle items towards all branch luncheons and, assisting in producing QRPA newsletters tri-monthly.
Community Supporting Police
QPCU is a major supporter of this worthy cause. Community Supporting Police was developed to provide further financial assistance to police officers and their families in times of crisis.
Crime Stoppers Queensland
Crime Stoppers is a not-for profit community volunteer organisation that has become one of the public's most effective tools in the fight to solve and prevent crime.
Established in Queensland in 1989 and operating throughout Australia, Crime Stoppers is a partnership between the community volunteer organisation Crime Stoppers Queensland Limited and the Queensland Police Service.
QPCU proudly sponsors the Crime Stoppers Inaugural Recognition and Awards program and the Police Representative of the Year Award annually.
Queensland Combined Emergency Services Academy (QCESA)
QSESA is a new state-of-the-art emergency services training facility officially opened at Whyte Island. The facility has been constructed to provide emergency services personnel with the opportunity to experience first-hand a range of real life scenarios they will face in their working lives.
Facilities such as a 'scenario village' including its very own QPCU branch allows for large-scale multi-disciplinary incidents to be staged, skills tested and responses of emergency services personnel measured.
QPCU are proud to be a part of this initiative to provide an excellent resource as part of the professional development of emergency services personnel.
Minister's Awards for Excellence in Community Safety
The Minister's Awards for Excellence in Community Safety is an amalgamation of the Department of Community Safety (DCS), the Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) and the Department of Emergency Services (DES) and, are designed to recognise the outstanding achievements of teams, work units and volunteer groups.
QPCU proudly sponsors the recognition of teams that have developed new initiatives and achieved real improvements in making Queensland a healthy, safe and secure state.
Bike for Burns
This is an annual charity bike ride organised by the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) where participants ride from Cairns to Brisbane to raise funds for the Royal Children's Hospital Burns Research Group.
Along with fundraising for the Royal Children's Burns Research Group, the charity ride is a part of the QFRS wellness initiative which aims to enhance the health and fitness of QFRS personnel, improving their occupational skills in responding to incidents effectively and safely.
These are just a few of the different community events QPCU not only participates in but also assists financially for the future of our community and its people.
