Chief Executive Officer

Mr Grant Peter Devine (MBA, CPA, FAMI, GAICD)

Mr Devine was appointed Chief Executive Officer of QPCU in April 2008.  Mr Devine has an extensive background in financial services with Credit Unions and various domestic and international banks. Mr Devine has a breadth of management experience to support the ongoing development and subsequent growth of the QPCU. 

Mr Devine’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Business and Master of Business Administration with ongoing memberships with CPA Australia, the Australasian Mutual’s Institute and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Ms Carol Hunter (BBus, GAICD)

Ms Hunter commenced her career with the Reserve Bank of Australia (10 years service), has worked in the private sector in various positions and has been employed within the credit union industry since 1996, within the areas of Customer Service, Internal Audit, Systems Development, and Marketing. Ms Hunter took up the position of Internal Auditor at QPCU in March 2009 and has held the current position since August 2010. 

Ms Hunter’s role comprises the responsibility of Company Secretary, Organisational Risk Management, Compliance, Banking Operationsand IT. 

Ms Hunter has a Bachelor of Business (Management) from Queensland University of Technology and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and Australasian Mutuals Institute (MAMI).

 

Executive Manager - Chief Financial Officer  

Mr Gabriel Romaguera (BBus - Account)

For over 10 years, Gabriel held the role of Chief Financial Officer for Uni Credit Union (UCU), which has since merged with mecu. Mr Romaguera also spent six months acting as UCU’s Chief Executive Officer, during which time he played a key role in merger negotiations and gaining stakeholder support.

Mr Romaguera’s role comprises the responsibility for financial, treasury, budgeting, taxation activities and strategic financial management.

Mr Romaguera is a Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Queensland University of Technology.  

  

Executive Manager – Lending

Mr Gary Halloran

Mr Halloran has a long and distinguished history working with financial institutions. Prior to joining QPCU in September 2008 he had spent 31 years with Citibank Limited in a variety of roles. For eight years he was the Bank’s Credit Manager for Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia. He had previously held positions of State Business Banking Manager, State Business Development Manager and State Investment Manager within Citibank. His core responsibilities on the QPCU Executive Management Team include managing the lending and collection activities of QPCU, credit policy formulation and portfolio and risk analysis.

Mr Halloran is a member of the Australasian Mutuals Institute.

 

Executive Manager – Sales and Marketing

Mr Steve Waters (B.Commerce)

Mr Waters has been working within the financial services industry since 2001. Prior to joining QPCU, Steve held roles with Suncorp and Sunsuper in the areas of product management, sales and marketing.

Mr Waters’ role on the Executive Management team comprises the responsibility for marketing, sales and distribution and QPCU’s Member Service Centre. Steve also manages the relationship with business partners Bridges Financial Planning and QBE - QPCU’s Insurance provider. 

Mr Waters has completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Queensland, post-graduate management studies (MGSM), is currently studying psychology and philosophy at University of Queensland and is active in a number of charities at board level.

Professional memberships held include Association of Superannuation Funds Australia and National Institute of Accountants.
